Notarise Tanzania Company Documents Coordination, Not A Fee

What does Zatra’s notarisation support cover? Notarisation support on Zatra setup packages is professional coordination of agreed company documents with a competent notary, not a bundled notary invoice and not a government filing. Which instruments must be notarised or legalised depends on the receiving bank, embassy or authority. Confirm the live requirement before you travel or courier originals.
Notarisation on a setup mandate is coordination of agreed instruments with a competent notary, not a bundled tariff and not a BRELA filing. Banks, embassies and registries name different packs. As of 22 August 2026. Confirm the receiver before you courier originals.
Setup packages on pricing include professional support for agreed package documents. They do not include the notary’s tariff. If a sentence here disagrees with the receiving bank, embassy or BRELA live form, the receiver wins.
What this page decides
This page decides whether notarisation is a coordination task inside a setup mandate or a separate legalisation project. It is not a precedent library of specimen affidavits.
Fix four things before you book a notary: the exact instrument list, who must appear, whether the receiving party wants an original or a certified copy, and whether a translation is required first. While any of those is still moving, a stamp on the wrong pack has to be redone.
Where notarisation usually sits
| Receiver | What it often asks for | What it does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| BRELA / ORS | Instruments the live form lists | Name reservation or beneficial-ownership filing |
| Bank KYC | Certified copies of IDs, constitution, resolutions | The bank’s account decision |
| Foreign authority or embassy | Notarised and sometimes legalised packs | A visa or licence |
Typical sequence
- Lock the instrument list: Against the live receiver checklist, not a generic internet pack.
- Repair identity mismatches: Spellings, dates of birth and share counts must match.
- Translate if required: BAKITA coordination is a Fast Track extra where applicable; the translator fee is separate.
- Attend or courier as the notary requires: Remote stamps are not assumed.
- File the stamped pack: With BRELA, the bank or the desk handling the next instrument.
What this process does not include
- The notary’s fee, stamps or courier
- A guaranteed bank account or licence
- Embassy legalisation unless expressly scoped
Package map
Standard (USD 999), Fast Track (USD 1,500) and Executive (from USD 2,500) all include notarisation support for agreed package documents. Multi-Agency Mandates (from USD 12,500) can include a larger legalisation workstream after written scope. See company-registration coordination.
Competent institutions (verify live)
Notarisation is a private legal act. The notary or commissioner for oaths is not BRELA, not TRA and not the bank. The receiver still decides whether the stamped pack is enough. Confirm the live instrument list on BRELA ORS when the next step is a company filing, and on the bank’s KYC checklist when the next step is an account. Embassy legalisation is a third channel with its own list.
| Institution | What it actually controls | What it does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| BRELA | Which company instruments the live ORS form lists | The notary’s tariff or a bank account |
| Notary / commissioner for oaths | The notarial act on the pack you present | A government filing or KYC decision |
| Receiving bank or embassy | Whether certified copies, originals or legalisation are required | Company existence at BRELA |
Documents the file usually needs
Use this as a starting inventory. The live receiver list wins.
- Passport biographics that match the draft constitution and beneficial-ownership story
- The exact board resolution or power of attorney the receiver named, not a generic internet template
- Certified copies versus originals, as the checklist states; those words are not interchangeable
- A translation pair if the receiver named Swahili or a certified channel. See BAKITA coordination
Mainland vs Zanzibar
A mainland notarial pack does not automatically satisfy a Zanzibar registry or bank. BPRA filings and Zanzibar tax are a second system. Do not courier a Dar stamp and assume ZIPA or a Zanzibar bank will copy it.
Verify before you file
Before you book the notary or travel with originals, read the current ORS or bank list. Fees, forms and who must appear change on notice. This page is orientation; the receiver’s live version is the one applied to your file. Professional support on setup packages does not absorb the notary invoice.
Frequently asked questions
Is notarisation included in the USD 999 price?
Professional coordination of agreed package documents is in scope on Standard, Fast Track and Executive. The notary’s own fee, stamps, translations and courier costs are third-party and billed separately.
Does every BRELA filing need a notary?
No. Use the live ORS checklist for the instrument you are filing. Banks and foreign authorities often ask for more notarisation than the company registry.
Can Zatra act as the notary?
No. Zatra coordinates. A competent notary or commissioner for oaths performs the notarial act.
Are embassy legalisations included?
Only if expressly scoped. Legalisation, apostille-equivalent steps and courier are separate from published setup prices.
What if names on IDs do not match the draft constitution?
Stop and repair the identity file first. Notarising a mismatched pack wastes the notary fee and delays the bank.
Does notarisation guarantee a bank account?
No. Banks apply their own KYC. Notarisation is evidence handling, not an account decision.
