TRA Offices Near Mwenge and Sinza: A Practical Guide for Business Owners

Which TRA office serves the Mwenge / Sinza / Mlimani City area

Kinondoni is the relevant TRA region for this part of Dar es Salaam. TRA’s published contacts include:

PSSSF Commercial Tower on Sam Nujoma Road is the Kinondoni regional desk on the same road as Mlimani City and Mwenge Tower. Mwenge Tax Centre is the named local tax centre. Manzese is the next published centre west along the Shekilango / Ubungo corridor — useful if Kinondoni directs you there, not a substitute for checking which file owns your TIN.

Zatra Consultants’ office is at Sinza A, Sam Nujoma Road, First Floor, Mwenge Tower, opposite Mlimani City. That is a consultancy office, not a TRA office. Do not treat it as a government counter. It is a short distance from the TRA points above if you want filings handled without standing in the TRA queue.

Hours — what TRA actually publishes

TRA’s contact page lists ordinary office hours as Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM East Africa Time, closed Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Customs offices at ports and entry points are listed separately as 24 hours. The call centre is listed as 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM East Africa Time, Monday–Friday except public holidays.

Those hours are TRA’s published general hours, not a promise that a specific window at Mwenge Tax Centre is open the minute you arrive. Go early, take originals, and re-check the contact page on the day you travel.

What you can and cannot do at a local TRA office vs the portal

TRA has invested in electronic services for TIN, returns and payments. A local office is not the only door, and it is often the slower door. Use the portal when the live process allows: registrations, return filing, and many payment steps. Use the office when the portal has raised a query that requires original documents, when you have been summoned, or when a specific centre owns a physical process the portal does not.

A local tax centre cannot rewrite the law, cannot promise a refund, and cannot treat a consultant’s letter as an assessment. It also cannot complete BRELA incorporation — that is a different authority. If your problem is a company that does not exist yet, start at BRELA ORS, not at TRA.

What to bring to a TRA office visit

Exact lists follow the live form. As orientation, a Kinondoni visit usually fails without:

• The TIN or the application reference, if one already exists
• Certificate of incorporation or the current BRELA extract
• Director / shareholder identity documents the form currently lists (passport or NIDA as required)
• Proof of registered office / business location if the form asks for it
• Any TRA notice, assessment or query letter you were told to answer
• Authorisation if someone other than a director is appearing

Scans on a phone are not always accepted when the desk has asked for originals. Names must match. If you are sending a staff member, send the authorisation with them — TRA is not obliged to discuss a company with an unauthorised person.

When it is faster to use an advisor instead of visiting in person

Visit yourself when you have been personally summoned, when only you can identify, or when you want to see the stamp with your own eyes. Use a desk when the work is a registration pack, a return calendar, a notice that needs a written response, or a file that already has mismatched names across BRELA and TRA.
