Corporate Services in Tanzania: Formation through Bank Readiness — Not a Seven-Day Guarantee
Can a Tanzanian company be fully set up in seven days? Incorporation can be fast when the pack is clean. TIN, sector classes, work permits and bank onboarding are other desks with other clocks. This slug’s ‘7 days’ is marketing residue, not a statutory SLA. The sequence is BRELA then TIN then class, then the bank pack. Approvals are not guaranteed. Fees on /pricing/.
A seven-working-day Fast Track pack still needs corporate governance advisory for signatories after incorporation. Post-setup director or share edits are company changes, not a second Fast Track clock. Closing the file later is company deregistration — Fast Track does not apply to a strike-off.
As of September 2026, this page is the corporate-services file: formation through tax, licence and bank readiness — not a seven-day government guarantee.
What this page decides
Corporate services can move from company formation toward operational readiness on an accelerated calendar when documents are complete — but licence and bank timelines still depend on the regulator and KYC. This guide is sequencing speed, not mining or immigration detail, and not the ordinary step list.
| Decision | This page | Use instead |
|---|---|---|
| Can we accelerate if the pack is complete? | Calendar / sequencing speed | This guide |
| Filing order regardless of speed? | Out of scope | Registration step sequence |
| Ownership / tax / control design first? | Out of scope | Corporate structuring |
An accelerated calendar is not a regulator SLA. Lock the pack, then use company registration and the registration launch desk for BRELA → TIN → licence → bank. Confirm live KYC and licence clocks.
Your Trusted Partner for Seamless Business Setup
At Zatra Consultants, we specialize in helping both local and foreign investors establish fully compliant and operational businesses in Tanzania — swiftly, strategically, and stress-free. Our comprehensive Corporate Services cover every stage of the business lifecycle — from company formation and structuring to accounting, payroll, and management reporting.
BRELA incorporation can often complete in a few working days once filings are correct, but coordinated full setup follows our package targets: Fast Track approx. 7 working days or Standard approx. 14 working days after complete documents. Operational readiness (licences, tax, bank) is a separate milestone from company registration alone.
1. Company Formation and Structuring
We assist in registering Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), Branches, or Holding Entities, depending on your investment goals. Our legal and advisory team prepares the full documentation — including MEMARTS, Form 14b, and shareholding structures — ensuring alignment with Tanzanian investment, tax, and business laws.
Timeline: BRELA filing often a few working days when documents are complete; full package setup Fast Track ~7 / Standard ~14 working days (BRELA is incorporation only)
2. Registration and Regulatory Filings
Our experts handle all statutory registrations required for business operation in Tanzania:
- Tax Registration (TRA) – TIN for the company and directors
- VAT or VFD Registration – VAT For businesses above TZS 200M turnover or on request. VFD or EFD is mandentory for legal receipts
- Business License – Municipal or MITI license based on your activity
- Beneficial Ownership Filing – BO register and compliance submission
We manage filings and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure smooth approvals.
Timeline: confirm the live TRA and licence-holder queues. Not a Fast Track SLA.
3. Registered Office and Bank Account Setup
A physical office address is mandatory for company registration and licensing. We assist with address verification, signage compliance, tenancy agreements, and bank account opening in major Tanzanian banks (CRDB, NMB, Stanbic, BOA, etc.), ensuring your financial operations start immediately.
4. Payroll, Accounting & Statutory Compliance
Our accounting division provides end-to-end financial management support:
- Payroll calculation and payment processing
- Statutory bookkeeping and accounting
- Maintenance of statutory registers and annual filings
- Periodic and consolidated financial reporting
- Preparation of board and annual meeting documents
We use IFRS and Tanzanian GAAP standards to ensure transparency, investor confidence, and compliance.
5. Management Reporting & Corporate Governance
We help you maintain clear governance and accountability through:
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports
- Statutory board meeting documentation
- Regular communication with supervisory bodies
- Consolidated financial performance tracking
This ensures all company decisions and reports meet both local and international corporate standards.
6. Ongoing Secretarial and Advisory Services
Zatra Consultants provides continuous support beyond setup:

Your success doesn’t stop at registration — we stay with you as your long-term corporate partner.

Attachments Required for Company Registration
To register your company in Tanzania, the following attachments are required from each shareholder and director:
For Each Shareholder / Director
- Passport copy (valid for at least 6 months)
- One passport-size photo
- Proof of residential address (utility bill or tenancy agreement)
- Email address and phone number
- Physical office address in Tanzania (Zatra can assist if you need one)
For Corporate Shareholders (if applicable)
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Memorandum & Articles of Association
- Board Resolution authorizing investment in Tanzania
Additional for Foreign Investors
- Non-Criminality Declaration
- Bank statement (for source of funds)
Minimum Capital Requirements
Check the current threshold: these amounts are published orientation rather than a guarantee of eligibility. BRELA sets and revises them, and the figure that counts is the one live on your filing date.
- No statutory minimum for a standard trading or service LLC under BRELA.
- Recommended: Declare at least USD 10,000–50,000 as paid-up capital to build investor credibility and support licensing and banking.
- For Incentive Registration (TISEZA): Minimum capital USD 500,000 (foreign investor threshold).
- Capital can be declared in USD or TZS — and injected later into the company’s bank account after registration.
Compliance & Licensing Highlights
- Every company must have a TANZANIA REVENUE AUTHORITY (TRA) TIN for both company and directors.
- Businesses with turnover above TZS 200 million (≈ USD 80,000) or offering professional services must register for VAT.
- Municipal Business Licence is mandatory before operations.
- Annual returns and Beneficial Ownership filings are due yearly.
- Work and Residence Permits are required for foreign directors living or working in Tanzania.
Final Note
Zatra coordinates company, tax and licence packs as one file. BRELA, TRA and the named boards still decide. Fast Track is seven working days and Standard is 14 working days after complete documents for the core setup route.
Brief the desk
Zatra coordinates name reservation, BRELA filing, tax identity and the licences the activity needs. Package targets: Fast Track ~7 working days / Standard ~14 working days after complete documents. BRELA filing is not operational readiness. Zatra does not issue the certificate, TIN, licence or bank account.
Attach your required documents to [email protected] with the subject:
“Company Registration – [Your Company Name]”
After a complete pack, the desk sends an engagement letter and pro-forma invoice. That is not a same-day registration promise.

What ‘full setup’ has to mean on a board paper
Extract, TIN, the sector class you will actually trade, and a bank that will take the first payment. Missing any one is not full. Cashew buyers who must settle unions in five working days learn this the expensive way — that clock is on the cashew operating guide.
Seven days is not a statutory SLA
Formation through bank readiness is extract, TIN, mapped licences and a bank that will onboard that story. Work permits are extra if people will work. OSHA is extra if there is a workplace. Do not sell “7 days” as Gazette. Confirm the live desks. Zatra on /pricing/. As at 11 September 2026, the sequence still has more desks than a slogan.
